Grossman Cap (G-Cap)

Grossman Cap Co. has roots stretching back to 1903, making it one of the oldest headwear companies in the country. Based out of Massachusetts, the company spent the better part of the twentieth century as a quiet but steady presence in the cap trade. It wasn't until the licensed sports boom of the late 1980s and early 1990s that Grossman Cap emerged as a name collectors would come to know, entering the market for officially licensed NBA, NHL, and other professional sports snapbacks under the G Cap label.

The hats Grossman produced during that era share the DNA of everything collectors prize in a vintage snapback — 100% wool construction, clean embroidery, and the no-frills honesty of a cap made when licensed headwear still meant something. G Cap pieces turn up across every major league from that period, from the Charlotte Hornets to the NY Rangers to the Atlanta Hawks, and they hold up. The G Cap tag on the sweatband is a quiet signal to anyone who knows: this is the real thing, made before the market got crowded and quality became optional.
